MC Magma è uno studio atelier, una project room per l'arte contemporanea.

Studio d'artista dal 1977, è a Milano dagli anni ottanta.

MC Magma Studio è artefice promotore di una propria linea artistica indipendente.

M.C. Magma Studio per l'arte contemporanea, sotto questa denominazione è stata fondata nel 1999 da Manlio Caropreso come operazione artistica sviluppatasi intorno al concetto di propaganda e corto circuito nel sistema dell'arte.

Ma anche velocità di impatto visivo e accelerazione della percezione, caos sistematico e depistaggio formale. Idee sulle quali Manlio Caropreso artista si esprime e lavora dagli anni '80. Su queste idee e non solo, sin dalla sua prima personale nel 1983, Manlio Caropreso è attivo, realizzando diverse operazioni, opere, installazioni, performance per mostre personali, collettive, collezioni private e museali.

La linea che definisce il programma di MC Magma è decisamente supercontemporanea, velocissima nel presentare in anteprima artisti internazionali, promuovendo progetti selezionati di talenti emergenti, creando opportunità ad artisti, curatori, collezionisti, galleristi e spettatori curiosi, nuovi e meno nuovi, relazionandoli al sistema dell'arte contemporanea internazionale. Perciò MC Magma è promotore di quelle connessioni appropriate e necessari contatti con i media e selezionati consulenti di arte contemporanea.

La visione del progetto MC Magma comprende tutte le possibilità e direzioni: pittura, fotografia, video, installazione, film, disegno, scultura, design, altro, senza alcun limite.

La denominazione MC Magma è stata ideata nel 1995 da Manlio Caropreso, realizzando concretamente il progetto pochi anni dopo, con la messa a punto di tutti quegli strumenti per il finanziamento, la comunicazione e la ristrutturazione dello spazio, nel 1998, prima dell'apertura al pubblico avvenuta nel 1999, per la promozione, la diffusione e la produzione di eventi artistici.

Operazione artistica propositiva e fortemente innovativa per l'arte contemporanea internazionale, inedita e di ultima generazione.

RIFLESSIONI SULL'EX

Nella denominazione MC Magma, c'era uno studio aperto, uno spazio per progetti, una "contemporary project room" per l'arte contemporanea.

E' ormai da tempo che la denominazione MC Magma è stata archiviata da chi l'ha ideata, lasciando nuovamente posto all'archivio personale e allo studio privato di Manlio Caropreso, suo fondatore.

Lo studio è situato in un'antica fabbrica milanese di via Tortona, ricavato da un vecchio laboratorio. Lo studio atelier milanese di Manlio Caropreso nacque negli anni ottanta.

Negli anni novanta, pur ideando e realizzando esposizioni e mostre personali come artista visivo, sostenuto dai più importanti critici del momento come Achille Bonito Oliva ed altri, Manlio Caropreso contemporaneamente studiava comunicazione, sistemi di pubblicità e propaganda.

Diffusamente riconosciuta subito da molti esponenti di rilievo nel mondo dell'arte come proposta da talent scout di qualità e di successo, divenne immediatamente la contemporary project room che generava tendenza, con ricercate modalità e innovative soluzioni nella comunicazione e divulgazione di eventi nel lancio di artisti inediti. Modalità nell'uso dei nuovi mezzi e linguaggio, poi adottate a ruota da molti, ancora oggi strutturalmente e linguisticamente similari, ma con la sola aggiunta dei social, oggi ormai capillarmente diffusi.

Così MC Magma è stata artefice e studio promotore di una propria linea artistica indipendente nel momento in cui stava cominciando a diffondersi internet, proponendo molto prima di importanti istituzioni o potenti gallerie, decisamente alcuni anni prima della nascita di Facebook e dei social, negli stessi mesi della nascita di Google, la propria linea di tendenza anche online. Internet nascente a quel tempo Manlio Caropreso lo definì "deserto digitale" semplicemente perchè era vuoto, strutturando nel deserto questi portali MC Magma, compreso questo dove siamo ora, che allora si rivelarono clamorosi nel sistema dell'arte e non solo. Per questa ragione i siti sono stati conservati in rete senza particolari aggiornamenti, ancora adesso strutturalmente uguali ad allora, perchè sono la testimonianza storica di fattori importanti nella comunicazione e che oggi si danno per acquisiti, ordinari e superati dalle nuove generazioni.

Strumenti allora atti alla diffusione simultanea di un programma supercontemporaneo, dall'anno della fondazione e apertura al pubblico di MC Magma.

Ora, sotto questa denominazione, l'avventura MC Magma è conclusa da tempo.

Con la creazione dello Studio MC Magma, relativo marchio e grafica, Manlio Caropreso è anche stato il primo ad aver sdoganato il termine “Magma” dalla vulcanologia per portarlo come nome proprio nel mondo dell'arte e non solo.

Oggi, come tutte le formule di successo, questo sostantivo si è consumato ed è sin troppo abusato come denominazione, ormai comunemente usato per ogni argomento, adottato in ogni settore, anche da creatori e creativi, che non si preoccupano di essere originali nel marchio, ma solo epigoni, imitatori, continuatori.

Gli esempi di clonazione del nome MC Magma sono ormai tanti nel mondo. Pur essendo un marchio registrato a copertura di molti ambiti, questa definizione è ormai stata abusata e resa inadottabile, per evidente inflazione e consunzione del nome.

Oggi è adottato per nominare macchinari, blog, account, apparecchiature per server, per nominare rapper, DJ, postazioni per DJ, auto di prestigio come la GranTurismo MC in livrea fiammante Rosso Magma MC.

MC Magma ora è anche un server di sopravvivenza per Minecraft. Inoltre, c'è anche un personaggio della Warner Bros, Vince Mc Magma, che è apparso in un film dei Flintstones.

Hanno fatto negozi di calzature alla moda e marchi di scarpe, pizzerie e locali notturni. Ma la cosa ancora più incredibile della mancanza di limiti all'emulazione è che il nome Magma viene utilizzato per denominare anche gallerie d'arte e musei minori, alcuni anche utilizzando gli stessi caratteri, lo stesso font.

Ciò evidenzia che il progetto di arte contemporanea MC Magma è solo uno, il primo.

L'unico ad aver generato quest'emulazione collettiva senza confini.
